From the movies we watch, we have seen so many superheroes with different superpowers. The Flash can time travel moving at great speed, Thor is the god of lightening and superman is the man of steel. These superheroes save us from physical danger.
Lets invent our own superhero and let’s call him Disappointment Panda, not a very cool superhero name, I know, but his job is important. His superpower will be to give us the truth no matter how bitter it is to swallow.
He will knock on my door every morning and tell me hard truths like he is distributing newspapers on an early morning like , “Hey Hamza, staying up all night watching movies is not going to speak well in your school grades ?” Or “Hey Hamza, money won’t make you happy”. Then he will knock on my next door neighbours room and be like, “Good morning, Judith, pushing people away makes you lonely and doesn’t guarantee you’re never going to get hurt”.
Everybody we know, our family and friends, are always trying to protect us and don’t give us the truth how it is. They believe they’re doing us a favor, protecting our feelings. But sometimes we really need to hear some harsh truths to be able to make some life-changing decisions and our family’s can’t be that harsh because they love us. This is why we all need to become The Disappointment Panda. Let’s tell the people we love the truth even if we think it’ll rip them apart.
That best friend you have, starting today, in fact now, tell them that being too available is a sign of desperation and that is why his relationships don’t work out. He needs to hear it.
When the Disappointment Panda knocks on your own door telling you having first class doesn’t make you better than everyone else in the room, heed to what he has to say. As much as the truth hurts, it heals you even better. Improvements come from criticism and openness to change.
Mask Up, become the Disappoint Panda. Speak the truth, accept the truth and live the truth.
