My Entry
On Sunday evening we ended up taking the longer scenic route home even though we were tired and just wanted to get home. We had to run an errand first which took us the long way around the mountain rather than straight over.
But it turned into a happy accident as the views we know so well turned spectacular as we drove along the Chapmans Peak Drive. It’s one of the most spectacular routes in the world and this sunset is just one of the reasons why.
We drove along the lower cliffs and first stopped at a regular picnic spot where many folk love to sit and watch the sunsets and views of Hout Bay below.
And then we stopped again on a cliff side pull off to catch the final epic rays blasting through the clouds. It didn’t take long, but I’m so glad we did it. It’s a reminder to be grateful for everything around us and that the best things in life will always be free.
The drive home was full of “oohs” and “wows” as we drove along the narrow road tucked into the mountainside with a steep drop off down to the wild ocean below.
