Hello there!

This is Sonia! I am back to you from snowy Kyiv, Ukraine. I am ready for winter 2022-23 and today I'll share some winter tips with you on how to survive it.

After the last shelling, we usually have one or two of the three (water, heating, electricity) in our homes. But I got ready.

So. First of all - warm clothes, underwear, socks, and home shoes. When I help Zirochka around the house I'm not cold but when have to sit for a long while... even a warm-blooded little girl like me got frozen. So we got a pair of home insulated shoes, especially for this winter season.

And a sleeveless jacket insulated with artificial fur on the outside and inside.

Then, I made a supply of a tea. Tea bags, herbal, dried berries, and ginger. Oh, and a honey, of course. When there is no power and even heating and water, we still have gas and can prepair a aromatic hot tea.🥰🍯🫖

Must have of this season are various candles and flashlights. I have even a flashlight with dynamo, so I can use it even when no power and no batteries. Clever!🙃😉

Nutrition is very important. To stay healthy, we have to keep ourselves warm, hydrated, and care about healthy food. Vitamins!🍒

This is a gift box Zirochka's got on St. Nicolas day. We celebrate it on December 19th here in Ukraine, still on the Julian calendar. still on the Julian calendar from the time when Ukraine was part of the Russian Empire. The Russian Orthodox Church did not switch to the Gregorian calendar, as the rest of the world did.😬 That is why we celebrate our Christmas holidays 13 days later.

Initially, there were more fruits in these box...☺😇😋

But in winter we need more fats and carbohydrates. I have enough canned fish, vegs, and fruit jam. Survival first!

Even in winter, we need to shower once in a while.😂 We have a boiler with 25 l vol. When power goes off, I still have some supply of a hot water, but have to use it sparingly.

After shower, there is still the eternal problem of girls all over the world - have your hair done. Without power it's quite challenging! Time to take out curlers from the bottom drawer. Anyone remember what's this for and how to use it?🤪

Zirochka received a parcel from her friend livinguktaiwan@livinguktaiwan this week. Zirochka and I were very excited and so much looked forward to it!🎁 LUT is so kind and caring, besides we all love suprises.❤ This time, I got a new friend too!🐯👫

You may ask - Sonia, what do you mean "too"? This is not a mistake. Although during wartime travel is difficult and may be dangerous. But my friend Mary finished her Christmas trip to the United Kingdom happily. She and Snwopea are making friends, and I look forward to new stories about their adventures. Ah, I'm so happy for her!💛

I say, difficulties are easier to overcome when you are not alone.

My best wishes to all of you and your families. May peace and good be with you always 🎄🎉

Sonia
