The search engine giant is going to spend $300 million plan to combat fake news.
The plain is being called "Google Disinfo Lab" which will come into action on Google News and Youtube over the next 3 years where a new section will be introduced called "Top News" which will only attribute content from verified sources.
Google will partner with several media to promote authentic contents of certain events, elections, breaking news etc.. in order to stop spreading of fake news.
It will soon be launching a "Subscribe with Google” option which is going to let users easily pay online and subscribe directly to publishers of their news websites.
The company says to have generated more than a $12.6 billion for publishers and $10 billion clicks a month only through Google search engine and youtube.
The social media giant "Facebook" too had came under heavy criticism of not vetting news on their platform after which they changed their Newsfeed to not promote external contents.
