Though I usually do not watch animated movies but seeing the trailer really got me tempted and i watched it.
Here is a trailer and little review about the movie.
The movie is based on the novel of the same name. The whole movie is about a 11 year old girl named "Pavana" living with her family in Afghanistan under the strict Taliban rule in 2001, where women's were not allowed leaving house without a man companion, not allowed to work, not allowed education and must always veil themselves in public.
We see Pavana with her cripple father (who lost his leg in the war) selling things at the market whatever they can and offering reading & writing, until one day a boy comes gets into a argument with her father (who also happens to be his teacher ones) and praised him of being a good student. But the boy was brainwashed and thinks he wasted his time teaching things of no worth and have joined the Taliban. In order to take revenge of that argument he gets her father wrongfully arrested and taken far away.
Since her father was the only male member in the family to support. Now Pavana having no choice is now forced to cut her hair and disguises herself as a boy in order to support for her family. While working luckily she finds her old friend "Shauzia" (who also is disguised as a boy) and the two of them discovers a whole new world of Danger & Freedom. Pavana with her growing courage finds her father and reunite her family.
I loved the movie it was very touching and beautifully animated which displays hardworking of a father, importance of education, mindset of mothers and the freedom of women's.
