Hello friends!
Today I want to talk with you about the opportunities offered by our sense of smell in learning.

Smell is made up of billions of small hair cells, together they form a kind of bridge between the nose and the frontal lobe of the brain, allowing to differentiate between different types of odors.

The smells are very linked to memory, so this sense plays an important role in the learning of the individual throughout life. The fragrance that our mother used, the smell of grandma's food or the aroma that comes out of the kitchen when baking a cake or cake, can trigger a series of sensations and memories if these episodes are anchored at some point in life .

On the other hand, the smell is also used to alert us to the danger. When a person or an animal feels fear, secrete pheromones that can easily be detected by some animals, such is the case of the dog, and consequently react to fear. Many times we have seen how children are able to detect and alert dangerous situations, it is because through smell, you can easily recognize the feeling of danger or fear in your environment and react to protect yourself.

During puberty, the sense of smell takes on a relevant role, the process of hormonal change increases sexual essences, becoming strong stimulants for the brain, thus generating behaviors aimed at flirting and / or seduction.

As for the types of odors, the pleasant ones are recommended when learning processes are initiated, aromas such as cinnamon, lavender, flower essences, woods or certain oils tend to reduce stress, so when included in the process of learning, will form a kind of anchor that reminds us of the wonderful experience of learning. As for unpleasant odors, they generate a negative response in the human brain, even faster than images or sounds.

The sense of smell then, is an excellent ally in the learning process of the individual, we combine pleasant smells with pleasant experiences, these will be fixed in memory, take advantage of that resource offered by our brain. As a final recommendation, breathe! Go out and breathe fresh air whenever you can, remember that oxygen is the main nutrient in the brain.
