Vacation Time!
After years of business building, sacrifices and a nice bout of covid, we are finally taking a family vacation. For this reason, I will stray from my regular format the next couple weeks to bring you raw, unadulterated adventure. But first, a quick weekend jaunt to Calgary.
You may recall past blogs where I mentioned the upcoming professional fight I was looking forward to attending. My training partner Kris returned to professional MMA after a long covid layoff and a couple of injuries. Time to hop a flight to Cowtown.
The first beer of the trip was not that triumphant in style. How bad do you have to be at pouring a beer to make it look like this? I was looking at that picture and thinking maybe the waitress was pouring just a splash to show it is fresh and fizzy. It tasted damn good with a sushi lunch before the flight when I poured it properly I tell ya!
Our terminal in the Calgary airport had a neat sculpture with flying toy planes that told a story about some of the historic regional pilots throughout the years. It spun when the kids turned the key and the bright eyes just have to make you smile.
We were about 6 rows from the ring and I was streaming the fight for friends back home so I didn't score too many good shots. Here is one of our guy crushing his opponent against the cage while attacking leg takedowns.
In the end, Kris was disappointed with the result of a loss but he fought a great fight. You win or you learn and we will be right back in the gym to continue to improve.
Calgary is a cool town with pretty much everything going on. So neat to see the mountains loom to the west when it is clear.
The beer on the way home was much better. I love finding local IPAs at the airport when you are there nice and early for your flight. Some snacks and watching
Back home for a day or yard work and playing with Digdog to try and get him tired enough to settle down. Mission successful and some filthy garden feet to show for it.
Our next flight for the big vacation is tomorrow and I will be posting from mobile devices with some of my favourite dapps. Probably plenty of steps some days with
