What day is it? Oh yah! This post is for Wednesday Walk challenge championed by our friend @tattoodjay and the Make me Smile Collaboration challenge lead by @elizacheng. The basic idea is going for a walk, taking pictures, sharing stories and making people smile.

This Weds, I am just getting back from a week in the Canadian backwoods camping! Here is a nice WedsWalk with my little buddy.

There is nothing like a trip to a secluded lake for a few days to refill your cup. Made even better when you can share it with your little buddy. Plenty of trails and dog butts in this Wednesday wilderness walk.




With a lake this nice and a dog that loves water, the walk was also a swim. A rocky shoreline didn't discourage my little dood from taking the plunge into the sun-soaked cool water.




Stripy face is pushing the pace through rocky and rooty terrain but occasionally checks back to see if I am still at the other end of the leash. My tongue is not even out like his is.




Sunny and 25 is about as good as it gets. A little breeze makes its way from the lake through the trees to the path with the maintenance shed for the park staff. They do a great job preserving the wild life and most people enjoying the trails treat the park with respect.




He really is hunting as we walk. Hunting what? Not really sure but he loves to sniff every little bush and chipmunk hole he can find. Something off to the left has his attention as the leash finally touches the ground. Plenty of critters to highlight a great walk through the wilderness.




The tree canopy provides such great relief from the sun and I am able to walk an hour without sunscreen. Something pretty Canadian about a maple wrapping its branches around another. Many parks are made of evergreen softwood because they grow so quickly but Silent Lake boasts some great hardwood for an old Kawartha forest.




After many thousands of brisk steps through winding trails, we make it back home for a snack and a beer. He is still on guard though as surely the chipmunks and little red squirrels have crossed the line while he was away from camp. Seems I have walked him so much this year his little feathers on his ribs are getting bleached a little lighter brown.

He finally settled down to sprawl on the leaf covered moss so that I could get out on the lake for a paddle. A little late evening glassy water is a pretty great way to end a big Wednesday full of walk.
