"Nice day for a Wednesday Walk" I told myself. Some business matters to attend to downtown and some blue in the sky so why not walk to them. I started as https://revival.house with its majestic old stone architecture and central location perfect for events and fine dining.
Kitty-corner is the old armory. Battlements and all possibly the primarily storage in times of war and perhaps a retreat for a stand in the inevitable event of domestic war. I can't remember ever visiting this but someday I should!
Snow is almost gone but buds are not close to popping on these trees.
Historic City Hall almost always makes an appearances in any downtown walks. This was built in 1900 after the original city hall, built in 1856 but was destroyed by fire in 1897. Quite a neat building on the inside and the hub for community dealings, and crown of the square.
Town Square is lined by old buildings holding new businesses for the most part. Parking everywhere and picnic tables to visit in the summer.
Whatever 75 https://www.whatever75.com/ is a neat local business. Previously a fun breakfast joint, it has been turned into a food emporium with creative brands including Burger Queen, Pie Hole Pizza, and Pollo Morta Chicken. It really is a neat Covid story as the resourceful owner combined a few businesses under 1 roof when in person dining made running multiple locations prohibitive. Now you get the mall under 1 roof and I have enjoyed something from each of the menus. Great fast food!
Around the corner is historic The Parlour Inn https://www.theparlour.ca/ which lives in a building built in 1871. It has evolved a little since I arrived and has an expansive patio for the summer and a classic restaurant for winter and indoor dining and drinks.
Lingering Guest
Without warning, save some clouds sliding in, the skies opened up and it was winter again! Now hard and heavy blowing snow promised to make this walk a little more interesting for those safely watching from home.
The pictures seem much tamer than my memories of getting my glasses plastered with snow and hair getting wet while being blown everywhere. The sidewalks seemed to clear quite quickly. Few cars on the road but there were a few brave walkers.
Down the road to the right, you can almost see the new office that we https://towncriermarketing.ca will be opening this month. Pretty exciting and I will have to tell that tale on our business blog
@town.crier once we have the place ready. Great place to host some Hive events and promote it to the community.The afternoon was drawing on and road was calling me home for the perfect end to the Wednesday walk. Snow starting to accumulate a little but we were not done walking yet.
DOG WARS
A #wendesdaywalk would not be complete for me if I didn't make some time for Fluffy McMudderson to have his hour-long run through the woods. He gallops through the forest at the dog park with a big K9 smile on his face, checking ever log and travelling every path.
Though the snow had ceased and the blue returned to the sky, it was still cold and breezy enough that nobody lounged upon the lop-sided tree stump seat. Even f I braved the muddy water in front of it, the white blanket would make for a wet ass and the angle of the seat would probably have me spilling to the left side. I will snap a pic if I ever see anyone sitting here this summer but I doubt it.
With about as many steps as I could expect on a cool early spring workday, it was time to head home and tend to dinner before settling in for an evening of Mandalorian and games. Perfect hump day.

Hopefully the sights, sounds and textures of my #wednesdaywalk give you some entertainment and perspective of my little corner of the world. At least this week, I ended up taking pictures of the outdoors to share and not mostly food shots like last week. A few of these in a row and you will bear witness to the return of spring and the colourful transformation from tundra into charming little flower-bathed tourist town. I love the winter but, I can't wait!
