This post is for Wednesday walk challenge championed by our friend @tattoodjay and the Make me Smile Collaboration challenge lead by @elizacheng. The basic idea is going for a walk, taking pictures, sharing stories and making people smile.
This Weds, I am trying to get my feet back on the ground after an epic vacation last week you can catch here @zekepickleman/join-me-on-grapplers-escape The ground is still rocking like a cruise ship for me but there is work to do!
Taking a look out the back door after 10 days away, it is obvious whose job the mowing is and Hunty McDoggerson has had his way with the garden barriers. I need to do some walking out here but there is business to catch up on first.
First up, I am back in the office with the guys and we hit one of our favourite cafes for a business meeting. I love the big community table in this place and how many people bring computers to work on writing, music or photo editing. Great cappuccino too at http://revelstratford.ca/ Not sure why it is but I hardly ever remember to snap pics when I am walking downtown where our office is. I am probably lost in reviewing thoughts preparing for meetings and conversations. Too bad as it is a quaint little city!
After a long day of catching up with the team and clients, the dog park is calling my name.
I have been spending my time in the wide open sunny field of the park lately because the mosquitos in the back have been voracious with the rain. Today, it was too damn hot even for bugs and I had a chance to hit the back section. I think it is the dogs favourite as he prowls every inch of the forest and sprints the trails gleefully.
I have been taking a picture from these exact spots every time I visit since the beginning of the year. You can see the green is almost in mid-summer form as the wood-chip path gets squeezed from all sides. At the end of the year, I will combine all of these pictures into an animated gif that will hopefully show all 4 seasons of growth.
Back at the home, the front yard is a damn disgrace in need of immediate attention. The rest of the family must have been on strike while I was away for a week as the grass is long, and those incessant tree sprouts are about to take over. You can't even see the garden wall bricks and my neighbour looks to have manicured his lawn with a pair of scissors for the perfection.
The back yard is no better and I am anticipating having the lawn mower choke on this sea of overgrown green.
Not only that, but I have a supervisor just on the other side of the fence. This old fella is bigger than a football and just loves to hang out at his front door so my dog loses it. He has even dug himself a path under the fence from the neighbour's yard so he can visit when the dog is away.
The day is growing long and the temperature is finally starting to fall so I better get this done.
By the time sun set, I had the mowing done and burned the batteries for the trimmer before the back was done. Only 30 minutes worth of cosmetic finishing work and I can get into the garden to see what is growing, needs to be pruned, and hope my pickles haven't been swallowed by that Morning Glory climbing up the back fence.
G'night!
It is not quite the Mediterranean sunset I have enjoyed in the last week but it is nice to get home and #wednesdaywalk. Thanks for joining me as I get my feet back on the ground and my head back to reality.
Summer or winter settling in where you are?
