This post is for Wednesday walk challenge championed by our friend @tattoodjay and the Make me Smile Collaboration challenge lead by @elizacheng. The basic idea is going for a walk, taking pictures, sharing stories and making people smile.

This Weds, I FINALLY remembered to take out my camera on a downtown walk between clients and partners! I even walked a main street so you could check it out with me.

It started out nice and sunny in this small town entering the dog days of summer for some. For others, like the many bed & breakfasts in this town, it is the busy season.




It is a bed&breakfast kinda day for me too as I am visiting https://www.rosehurststratford.ca/ for a discussion on a top-secret potential project to help all B&B owners in town. I have come to discover that client meetings at places like these have the best hospitality.




The one right next door is just as nice. I walk by these homes all the time and rarely pause to enjoy the classic style. The eastern sky looks nice in the late morning too.




I normally walk the quiet side streets but decided to take the main road as small towns can have some distinct personality on its biggest streets. Tax dollars at work tracing all the sidewalk cracks with orange spray paint.




These houses built in the 1800s are among the oldest here and might be considered modern in cities centuries old. I love how the lawn in the front yard has been replaced with leafy cover that can survive under the pines and not need to be mowed. Seems like a superior option to grass.

I had to pause and enjoy this view a while. Overgrown like some sidestreet in Louisiana but on the main road into a Canadian town. Liberal growth in front of a towering house that is apparently home to a hair design salon. Could use a trim?




Shaggy or well-manicured, they all seem to have their unique personality.

Some big old trees, varied house designs, and a motorcycle in the garden. Orange lilies grow all over the place here.

Way down the road, you can see the center of town with the court house on the sky line. The soft hum of tourists enjoying so many unique businesses. A nice walk with not so much car traffic for what is supposed to be the busy season.




By the time I arrived back downtown, the sky was threatening to tear open at any moment. The flag over city hall was hammering sideways as the storm clouds roiled overhead. I managed to get into the car as the first big drops started to fall before the thunder rolled. Not a bad walk before the soaking.




Later on, it cleared up nicely and I managed to get some more walking in at the dog park. A funny little toad had made its way into the field and I put my finger next to it for context. I wouldn't want to be this guy in a field of playing dogs but he is more frog than I.




A few more hundred steps back home with a little stop in the side garden. The crazy vines are starting to shoot up their blooms and I have to save some of that for the next garden post!

Walking and working but still enjoying summer between trips. I like to have a life I don't need a vacation from but still have lots of vacations. Between those, it is a good day for a #WednesdayWalk
