This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by
This week, I have some procrastinated tasks to attend to, and plenty of outdoor time on the schedule as the forecast is summer!
I grabbed a couple hostas from the plant sale held by the horticultural society this weekend. I found a nice spot that had a good mix of afternoon sun and evening shade and all most weeds pulled away. The only issue is Doggo McAnarchy who runs through the gardens without a care and has stomped plenty of hostas in the past. I planted a garden stool over this one in an effort to prevent some trodding and increase the possibility of survival.
Perhaps I can distract him with some waterworks. A nice Sunday afternoon with the dog in the back yard is pretty sublime if you don't have new plants and don't mine saying, "HEY GET OUTTATHERE!" repeatedly.
Speaking of sublime, here is a little nug porn for
Back to growing your own, it looks as though we may have our first strawberry to eat by the end of May! The strawberry patch always looks a little anemic after the winter but they do seem to come back every year. This fall, I am going to make sure to plans some of the strawberry seeds and cover the beds with straw and see if I can get a little more new growth. Still many months of berry eating 'til then.
Being a hot day, I waited until the early evening to take this little guy for his romp in the dog park. It is a daily trip if I can make it and the pace is just a little slower on a Sunday. For me at least. For him, he likes to run every inch of the park and hopefully find another dog to wrestle with.
I can't seem to pass birdhouse tree in the park without looking up and snapping a pic to share. I take a picture from 2 spots every time I walk and aim to combine them into a .GIF to show the changing of the seasons. I may have to add this as a third perspective as it is nice to see it put on its leaves.
Speaking of leaves. this one looked suspiciously like poison ivy as I was walking past it. Looking now, it could be wild strawberry but might be a little big. I will have to keep an eye on these as nothing worse than breaking out in an itchy rash after petting the dog who runs through everything.
On the short drive home from the park, I had to stop to let a family of honkers cross the street. Canada geese always return in the spring to nest and raise a new batch of young. This half dozen are losing their yellow fluff and starting to look like mom and dad!
After a nice day outside, I continued the festivities with a little curry veggie recipe and a beer in the back yard. My better half was in her pyjamas in a lawn chair at 9:00 talking to her family on the iPad. Seems like almost summer to me!
There was a little more gardening but I can't show you all those pics and spoil my next #gardenhive post! You will have to tine in later this week for that.
