I do love my Sundays for the balance I get to dictate between to-do list and doing as little as possible. I think I will leverage Pimp Platform for #SublimeSunday inspired by c0ff33a@c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday initiated by ace108@ace108.

To end this week, I am getting outside and enjoying the transition in season and admiring the late fall flora!

The Fading Garden

IMG_9625.JPG

I was a challenging summer in the garden with the 2-week drought to welcome the new seedlings, consistent rain after that, and the weeks I spent away on vacation and adventure. Still, plenty of fresh veggies and berries for the family and lessons learned. Frost has hit so we are on our way out but there are still blooms to be enjoyed. These Tanacetum (Pyrethrum) coccineum Radiant Light Pink painted daisies are known to be cold resistant seem to be battling eachother for the attention of the camera.

These little guys are still scattered here and there if you look closely enough. Prairie or daisy fleabane (Erigeron strigosus var. septentrionalis) is holding on even though we are on November's door in Canada.

Creeping bellflowers are still holding strong at the end of the stalk. I wonder if a couple nights of frost will change their mood but they were happy in the overcast coolness.

There are even hydrangeas throwing up the last pompoms of the year as the older ones in the background have turned brown.

The mint is still doing very well and begging to be harvested for winter mint tea. Peppermint is so lush, easy to grow, resilient in the late season and has so many uses.

IMG_9619.JPG

The last lonely morning glory holds strong even though the leaves have turned brown and it is about time to harvest seeds. They produce to many, I can throw a handful in different places in the spring and have to otherwise they would threaten to take over.

IMG_9626.JPG

The Nasturtiums on the south facing part of the garden are still doing their thing like it was still summer. Plenty of seed pods to collect and sow next year as these edible beauties are a hit in our garden.

IMG_9623.JPG

The rudbeckias take on a rugged beauty as their colours fade.

There salvias are not done yet either as the vibrant red little flowers drink in the sunlight from the shortening days.

Last of the Veggies

IMG_9617.JPG

The last of the peppers are starting to look good and I have a final wave of harvest of what are hopefully the most flavourful and spicy!

IMG_9618.JPG

A couple orange habaneros are left even though the plants are starting to wither.

IMG_9620.JPG

One last, nasty looking spaghetti squash is left and I might just have to harvest this one for seeds next year.

Out of the Garden

It was not all garden today. I also got out to bring my little one out to audition for the musical production and contest held by the local Kiwanis club. Emerging singers can enter for free, have access to vocal and music coaches, and participate in a couple musical productions and showcases. A nice old church redone for acoustics and offered to organizations like this one, the symphony orchestra and even a movie festival this winter! Neat place to behold as they evaluated vocalists for this year's events.

After a nice weekend afternoon nap, it was time to take the little dood to his happy place. He is soaked and racing around so he looks like another breed wit his ears straight up. If I even feel like not going to dogwars, I just remember his little face having the time of his life every day we go. Enjoying a little wrestle and run with his new friend. Burrs and all.

There were even some colours to behold at the dog park as well. The branches may be blackened by the length of the season but these berries proudly wear their vibrant colours.

I can still hear the Canada geese honking in the air above as they V up and head down south for the winter. This dark red maple leaf caught my eye even before I notice the little baby leaf clinging to it. Perfect image to end one as the maples litter the ground with ornaments they have been preparing for several months. Sublime indeed.
