Regularly check your blood sugar and cholesterol levels
Monitor blood pressure and reduce salt intake that promotes high blood pressure
Healthy eating by maintaining adequate fluid intake (and adequate water intake)
Monitor your weight
Do not smoke
Do not consume over-the-counter medications on a regular basis (especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which can lead to functional renal failure in the long term)
