THE PRESSURE TO LOOK SUCCESSFUL BEFORE YOU ARE.
Hello #scifimultiverse friends, happy midday. I trust your day is going well. Welcome to my blog.
Growing up with friends at the university
I strongly believe in the popular proverb: “humble beginnings make a strong foundation.” Presently, social media has become more of a place to display wealth and luxurious living. In the same vein, society cares little about how and the genuineness of the displayed affluence. People are judged by what is displayed on social media, not what they genuinely built. So, it has become more of an " if you can’t beat them, you join them” approach.
As a result, many people are pressured to fake it and look more successful than they are. They live on borrowed money, seeking approval and applause everywhere rather than quietly building a successful life and future.
As for me, I have never felt pressured to look more successful than I am because I know the consequences and what some of these people do. One of my colleagues, in a bid to belong to the circle of iPhone users, got a phone on Easy Buy ( a credit facility where one buys an item, pays a certain percentage, and spreads the remaining amount to be paid on a monthly basis for a certain period). The contract was signed, and the phone was released on the approved terms and conditions.
However, at some point the person was unable to remit the monthly payment. Immediately, the company locked the phone, and shame became the other side of the day for the individual. The desire to look successful before the actual time stole the shine of becoming successful from the individual.
Please don’t get me wrong, Easy Buy is designed for people who can afford such an easy life, not those struggling with monthly finances. There is a serious issue with trying to live a life one cannot afford. It is very dangerous. It comes with heartache, lies, and restlessness.
Personally, rather than striving to live a fake life, seeking unnecessary approval, or trying to impress people when I know I cannot afford that kind of affluence right now, I would rather save, make small investments, and plan to acquire the things I need, not want. This will grant me peace of mind, freedom, and confidence in myself.

Furthermore, I will focus on learning, planning, setting goals, and making genuine sacrifices until I reach my desired version rather than looking successful now to attract unnecessary attention and applause while exposing myself to ridicule and failure in the future.
