Let the words tell you about your Father,
Let them tell you about your heritage and where you came from,
Does it matter who your Dad was?
Does it matter if he was there?
A brisk, fleeting step into the past,
On his death bed,
A hand calls to you for comfort,
But you’re not there.
What would you do to get another chance?
Another final moment,
Another fleeting breath,
Another life that you never lived.
We all ask ourselves what if?
What could be?
We strive to make ourselves better,
Or be better; smarter, wiser,
Another life where you do things over,
But I’m not there.
