Readout number one; Do Not Leave Food Out While Camping.

Readout number two; Ensure That You Clean Up ALL mess and Rubbish Before Vacating Your Campsite.

Readout number three; I’ve lost interest and no longer care about these readouts.

My parents dragged me out here, to the wilderness in the middle of nowhere to get in touch with nature. We’ve been here for about three hours and I already want to kill myself. Not even figuratively this time. I mean I’ve found the rope, and I’m already actively looking for the perfect tree to hang myself from.

I’ve been failing out of school for the last four months, on account of ‘poor behaviour and [my] minimal attention span’. The teachers recommended this apparently. Or something to this effect. My dad was really big into camping back in the 80s, him and his friends would come out here every summer. Said he wanted to reconnect and share his past with me.

If it were really that amazing we’d have come sometime before my seventeenth birthday, but I guess dad is hitting his midlife crisis about now. Trying to recapture his youth. I just wish he didn’t have to drag me into his misguided attempts at turning back the clock.

It’s just one week. One week and then I get to go home and get back to my normal shitty life with my zero friends and zero aspiration. Where did that rope go again?
