The Fierce-eye, he who seeks to be first in all things!
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library! Here is the current Library Link post!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
As explained in This post about new reveals at Adepticon the Space Wolves are suddenly being launched and dropped on our heads suddenly!
Thus my time for reviewing their Datasheets is running out. I have 34 Reviews to do, I am trying to maintain a fast pace so I will give myself 17 days including today to complete all of these. That means that the last day of this personal challenge will be the 15th of April 2025!
Today is Day 4/17.
I have reviewed 9/34.
Time elapsed: 23.52%
Review Completion: 26.47%
One ahead of Par!
Beyond them looms another 85 reviews of the Coming soon section! I better get cracking!
With my hobby posts, I generate a hobby fund. 50% of the income goes into the fund. At the moment I put all my HBD earned from Warhammer posts into my alt account @zakl.hobbyfund.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
At the current count I am paying off some hobby debts. I still have $264 to pay off!
Every bit counts!
The whole project has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
671 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #333, I am 338 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
There are quite a few Wolf Lords that are known to be rash, fierce and impatient. Krom are one of those Wolf Lords. He leads a Great Company and he is well known for attempting to be the first to make landfall. The First into battle. The first to kill a new enemy.
He is a fierce fighter with a fierce reputation.
He costs 65pts to field and costs $38 to buy!
Let's check their stats and abilities!
Movement 6"
Toughness 4
Save 3+/4++(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 4
Ld 6+
OC 1
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 2+, S4, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (This weapon can be fired while in melee)
6 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S7, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
While leading a unit, when the unit is below starting strength, models in this unit get +1 to Hit rolls. When the unit is below Half strength, models in this unit get +1 to Wound as well.
In the shooting phase you can select 1 Infantry unit within 12" and visible to this unit. That unit must take a Battleshock test.
The strangest thing is that he has only 4 wounds... like a Rune Priest or an Iron Priest... perhaps a niggling injury then.
Other than that, he is supurb.
S7 Wyrmclaw is amazing and would become S8 on the Charge when leading a unit of Blood Claws which is the best option for me. However, his lore says that he has a lot of Wolf Guard in his Great Company. Joining them together doesn't make too much sense. When led by a character they get +1 to Hit rolls... which is what Krom gives when they lose 1 model.
This sort of redundancy is only helpful when there are also negative modifiers. You can go +1, -1, +1. But you cannot go +2. Besides, Marines hit on 3+ and the character on a 2+ and a roll of a 1 is always a failure. So +2 to hit is not that useful.
However... with the Blood Claws.... S8 on the charge and when the unit is below half, so 6 + Character with the big units of 15 then they get +1 to Wound as well.
Wyrmclaw would then be wounding everything up till a Custodian Guard on a 2+ in that moment! Ouch!
His fierce eye can shut down OC and access to Stratagems should the chosen enemy fail their Battleshock test.
Awesome model and one that I still need to collect!
That makes 12 Space Wolves Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 34.28% Completed. The total Completed is 36.35% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!
