Besides my horrendously punny title related to the image that I have shared of my cat... on the Tire on the back of the car... I do feel like I am behind in many aspects.
Is it normal to feel that way?
I have been in a bit of a slump, I feel, when it comes to productivity. But then, is it necessary for me to feel like I need to be productive all of the time?
Some sort of modern go-getter attitude might seem to suggest that this is the way to go about things. Don't stop, never quit, never surrender. If you fall, then get up and try again and try harder.
Though more often than not, in reality, people are not like that. Sure, they might tell you this after they achieved something great. But in reality success is earned through stages of activity broken by cycles of rest.
Think of it in medical terms or in the terms of a coach or sports doctor... Would you recommend to someone that they train all day without rest and without sleep? Probably not.
There are all sorts of physical science behind that. The time it takes muscles to repair and build stronger for example.
So would our brains not be made the same way? Nobody can just function at 100% for too long without needing to take a breather. We need sleep for our mental health just as much as we need it for our physical health.
This is not to say, that we must fall into a trap of complacency. This might lead down the path of us telling ourselves that we will start on that project tomorrow or worse yet: Having started a process and then saying that we will finish that project later and then indefinitely put off actually doing it.
Because if we have something important going on in our lives, that we can talk about but then not actually DO the important thing, then we can pretend to the outside world that we are being productive.
Here is the key though: Busy does not always equal productive.
And there we have the linchpin to this whole trend of thought! There is a vast difference between being busy the whole time and actually getting things done. There is also a massive difference between getting lots of things done that are ultimately pointless, instead of spending a small bit of time Assessing what it is that needs to be accomplished and planning on how to successfully accomplish that goal.
I suppose the same could be said about our hopes and dreams... this could be a rather depressing topic, or a triggering one for those who are willing to fight to uphold their dreams/goals. People have dreams/goals and they are going to be upset if you say anything bad about their dreams/goals.
But how often do people thing about whether or not the dream or goal that they have made for themselves is GOOD.
And no, I am not suggesting that our dreams and goals need to all have merit. I am not suggesting that our goals and dreams should have a positive influence on society etc etc.
All I am suggesting is that most dreams and/or goals are not usually assessed for their viability and practicality. Sometimes we do not even look to form a clear reasoning and path of how we are going to get there.
So with this in mind, I need to assess what my goals or dreams are, inside Hive, in real life, in my home, with my kids. There is much to think about.
Then the next thing that must be assessed is whether or not my dreams and goals have milestones to them, that can be executed and achievied.
In the meantime... I wrote this post. This is part of one of my goals that I am trying to up my posting frequency!
Thank you for reading this post!
Cheers!
