Good day everyone! Zak here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is my update on my little garden. Sorry if some of the pictures are a little hazy. I had limited time to do the pictures and it was already near sunset.
Yes, we are moving into Winter here in the Southern Hemisphere. However, the veggie garden does not standing still in that time! Something I have to admire of the people who grow food in the far north is when they have to plan around frost, snow and freezing temperatures. Or build green houses.
Don't get me wrong. Give me half and chance and I will also construct a dome or something, however, all you do in Cape Town is change the veggies you grow.
This patch of Basil, Parsley, Rosemary and Green Peppers will stay as it is. The Basil especially shows no sign of stopping its growth!
This little section next to the fence needs to get something else planted in it. Its mostly wild stuff. A lone tomato plant from the old batch is still sort of holding on there. In each corner there is a mint and a spearmint but they are not doing great. Somehow, I think my cats (probably Chai) is eating them.
Myself and the kids cleaned up this block. It was a parking area for pots growing Purslane. That was harvested and made into chutney while the more mature plants were just added to the compost.
Yes. I know I will get purslane popping up everywhere I use that compost. This is intentional. If the purslane wants to come, it can come. I eat it. I make chutney out of it too.
All the bricks were removed when I needed to build a quick fix when my metal braai collapsed. It rusted through. I am considering building a brick braai now...
This is where all the pots went. I will probably give them some mulch and water them, see if there is anythign viable coming up before planting new seedlings into them.
The New Compost is bulking up. I might need to separate some of the older bits of it soon.
Old compost is ready for garden beds.
My watermelon is going alone nicely. I give this area water daily. I have not seen any massive growth. This is my first time growing watermelon so we will see...
A little bell pepper here. Might not get much bigger. lol
A much bigger pepper. I will probably pick it soon! We use a lot of these in the kitchen.
The Corriander that was in here was planted out by my son 
They are coming! Hopefully I will be able to build a new raised bed where those bricks were taken away and then I will plant the Cauliflower and some of its plant buddies in that section. I am loong forward to that.
I have never grown Cauliflower so this is a bit of an experiment. We shall see how it all turns out!
