Hey everyone! Time for a new series of Warhammer 40k posts!

We are now in 11th edition and I posted This post about Core Stratagems. Now comes the next part!

Army building and army rules.

When you build an army you choose a faction of course. Do you build an army of honourable Space Marines? A horde of warlike Orks? A coven of treacherous Drukhari? The list goes on.

Every Army has Army Faction Rules.

Once you have selected that, you need to choose one or more Detachments.

Generally, you will have 3DP - Detachment Points. Every army generally has one 3DP Detachment and then some 2DP and 1DP Detachments. Each of these Detachments gives you some sort of bonus.

A 3DP Detachment tends to give you broad army-wide bonuses that are very powerful. A 1DP Detachment, by contrast, often focusses on a certain specific unit type and gives only that unit a bonus.

Detachments also give you access to Enhancements, which are upgrades you pay points to equip on Characters or Units.

Lastly, a Detachment will also give you unique Stratagems that only that Detachment can use. Though, there are some Stratagems that work similarly across the game.

I have been reviewing how I am going to do this... I have decided on One Faction at a time. I need to do Army Rule, Detachment Rules and Datasheets. I will start with the Orks.

I will do their Army Rule and then I will mix in Detachment and Datasheet reviews.

Enjoy reading them, I shall enjoy writing them!
