An interesting paradox

When I was just working my job, I had a very bad habit of spending it all on luxuries that I did not need. And not even good ones. I would buy designer brand clothing and shoes, and then have no money for the rest of the week and have to work without going out or doing anything else.

The annoying thing is that I was okay with it, even though it was a bad way of living. I justified it by telling myself that the things I was buying had resale value and were, in essence, investments in textile form.

Regardless of whether or not it was true, it was a bad way of living.

Now that I've discovered crypto, something unusual has happened to me.

I don't spend anymore. Even though I have substantially more disposable income than I had prior, my desire to spend it has diminished drastically. In fact, I've become quite spending-averse in the past few months.

A good omen?

It could be that I'm concerned about developing bad habits. If I had a bad habit when given 800 dollars a week, what damage could I do to myself with more? What if I spent it all every day on bigger, stupider things. More expensive things. More perishable luxuries. I didn't want to know, so I seem to have subconsciously put up this big metal door in the way of spending.

It's actually very refreshing. It feels good to be saving and to be working towards something. I am absolutely determined to build up my equity so I can earn lots of Steem and start posting more seriously. I want that money engine so that when I reach that point, I can spend without worrying about losing my gains or about my equity going down.

I think this is the right way to go, and I am glad I discovered crypto and Steemit because it's fostering within me the mature, responsible habits for the future that I need to have.
