Potensi lestari diperkirakan mencapai 272,7 ribu ton/tahun, jumlah kapal penangkap ikan 16.701 unit dan jumlah nelayan 64.466 orang. Luas tambak diperkirakan mencapai 53.000 Ha.

Oleh sebab itu sudah pantaskah Pemerinta Aceh mendongkrak perekonomian di bidang perairan , kelautannya.
Tetapi tidak sampai disitu, keluhan para nelayan yang sangat sangat ditunggu oleh pemerintah Aceh dan pusat adalah Sudsidi dari Bahan bakar, dan bantuan boat dan perahu mereka. Banyak nelayan tidak melaut gara gara bahan bakar yang tinggi sehingga hitungan pemasukan dengan pengeluaran itu tidak sesuai. Oleh sebab itu pemerintah Aceh seharusnya bekerja extra dan memikirkan masyarakat Aceh yang mata pencariannya nelayan terancam tidak melaut lagi dan imbasnya pada perekonomian dari sektor kelautannya akan berkurang secara siknifikan.
