Here we come for the remaining part of our descusion, "WHY SELF CONTROL IS VERY IMPORTANT"
Some may ask is self control important after reciving freedom from sin and death through christ jesus according to ROM 8:2?
NOTE : Freedom without self control lead to self distruction.paul admonishes us Gal 5:1 to stand firm in the liberty where with christ had made us free and be not entangled with the yoke of slavery ( Bondage ). It takes a spirit controlled man to stand in liberty.
Areas i need to exercise self control ; lets reflect on this question gently.
2.Do i play too much game?
Am i gluttony ? Ecc 10:16 -17
Am i addicted to excess sleep ?Matt. 13:25
Are my friends keeping me from being what God want me to be ?
Does my hubby come's in the way of my relationship with God.
Am i a talkative ?
GOD'S TRANING
Every christain is enrolled in a school - GOD'S TRANING SCHOOL "Hebrew 12:8 tells us, if you are without traning ( discipline ) of which all of us here are partakers, then you are illegitmate child and not a son. So every true child of God is enrolled into the program.
A LIFE TIME TRANING
David was a smart young man and was used mightly of God as a teenager.
But God did not see him fit to entrustthe responsbility of the kindom until he was 30, Jeosph spent 20 years in Egipty as a slave and prisoner and was elevated to the number two position in the land at the age of 30. John the Baptist began his ministry when he was at the age of 30. Even the Lord Jesus waited until he was 30 to begin his public ministry .We can not be fast about it, but in a general rule , it might be wise to view our teens and twenties as a time of preparation and traning for the ministry to which God has called us. And of cause , the traning does not stop at 30 , it continue all our lives. Hence this traning produce fruit of the holyspirit in us and lead and lead us to spiritual maturity.
GOD'S TRANING TO HANDLE PROSPERITY.
God delivered the Isrealite from Egipty in order to poses the promise land,
But God have to train them for forty years ( 40 ) in the wilderness before letting them poses the promise land . like wise God will not give you one million unless he train you on how to handle ( manage ) it.
If you are going to experience God's prosperity, then you can assured that you will be enrolled in God's school adversity so as to lean how to handle prosperity properly.
LET'S CONSIDER SOME OF THE PROGRAM
(a) BROKEN PROMISE: In this course the student will be promise something by someone ; but the person will brake and not keep or fulfill the promise.
This course may be repeated often for many credit. 1samuel 17:25,1samuel 18:17-19. 1samuel 19:6-10-11
( b) EVIL FOR GOOD : in this course the student will do something good for someone, only to have that person do something evil towards him in return 1samuel.18:10-11
(c) OPPORTUNITY TEST : In this course the student will be given opportunity to take a revenge on an enemy who have been attempting to ruin his life , the student will be tested for his response to this temptation 1samuel 24:1-7 ,1samuel 26:4-12.
NOTE. Affliction is painful, but for you to handle prosperity you must pass through the school of adversity, because God uses adversity to humble a person so he can handle success.
IS GOD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE AFFLICTION IN MY LIFE ?
Every challenge or problem you pass through in life give you a new experience and knowledge ROMANS 5:3-5. Nevertheless God is not responsible for the every affliction we pass in life.
SOURCE OF AFFLICTION
1.SELF INFLICTED : This are the problems we brought upon our self as a result of ignorance, HOSEA 4:6
2.THE DEVIL: This is a problem caused and brought by the devil James 4:7,Eph 6:12.
HOW DO I INDENTIFY THE SOURCE ?
(a) Judge every situation with the word of God and know weather it correspond with his promise.
(b) Pray inquiry prayers to know the mind of God concerning that problem Jer 33:3
(c). Ask your superiors in the ministry. An adage says "a problem shared is half solved". 1cor 10:13.
CONCLUTION
Those whom God uses must go through his traning school to develop trust, submission , endurance and tender conscience. If you are a christian you are in God's school already; i hope that realizing this truth doesn't give you reoccurring bad dreams. Be assured that God has your best interest at heart , He is training you to share in his holiness Heb 12:10.
NOTE: The school may be difficult,but the alternate is devastating ,if you do not know God and oby his word, you will pay the penalty of enternal distruction away from the presence of God and the glory of his power.
Just as we train our body to submit to a rigorous routine of endurance,abstance and sacrifice, we must apply the same training to bring our bodies to submission to the will of God for our life ; we must train ourmself to be Godly. Though physical training is of value in this life , Godliness has value for all things and hold promise not only for the present life but also the life to come 1Thimothy.
