I think the tone was handled wrong in this movie I mean it was produced by Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay so its clearly meant to be a comedy/satire but they approach the subject and the film was executed in a way that seems like its meant to be taking serious what is very confusing to be honest, the dudes who wrote it are new this is their first movie credit maybe they wrote for series idk... the director made some stuff but none that I have watched. With different actors movie might have fell apart but it was consistent cuz its located mostly on a single setting and relies more on the acting than anything else, the script although I was unsatisfied by the ending I would not called stupid at least made the interesting premise and most of the runtime engaging just become clear that if it was trying to make a statement failed miserably and that the whole movie becomes kinda pointless after the ending. the Chef stunt and the death of his own crew and the clients was to prove what? he keeps inflating his ego with that whole elaborated plan? they always take so now you take their life? but why the givers also have to die? makes no sense, but if it was kinda like a cult of something it would be better, the problem is that they tried to do this social commentary thing but they did not think it cleverly. I still love the film, but I recognize that I was kinda confused by what they tried to tell the audience. Unless the message is if your job sucks just kill everyone 🤣 I do not count this as a flaw cuz I don't watch movies to be indoctrinated so if a movie is well crafted even if it fails to give a "good message" I don't hold it against it.
