It is possible to play a handicap game in chess also, look at Paul Morphy's games, he was so much ahead of his time it's so beautiful what he was able to do while playing without some of the pieces from the start of the game.

Meanwhile, if you're losing badly at a chess game there is just nothing you can do and your moves become hugely pointless.

I gotta disagree with this one. Mainly because when you are in a losing position that you can't win from, you can always look for some tricky plays, either to force a stalemate or find a way to make a perpetual check scenario.

So basically we personally disagree with the difficulty level of these games which is alright. But just to stay on the superiority question. Go is mainly played in China and closer Asia regions while chess is played all over the world, and the most important of all it is starting to trend of Twitch (it currently has more viewers that Hearthstone) xD which only builds my case. :P
