One of the things I thought I could never do, was to adopt a kitten, since I am more of a dog lover. Well, when you have children in the house, sooner or later they get attached to an animal and it is very hard to resist their request for a pet.

A few months ago in the backyard of my house, a cat left us 4 newborn kittens as a surprise, when they began to walk around the yard and grow up they looked very nice and friendly, of course my son was fond of them and me too so we decided to adopt one of them.

Several people told me that cats were not recommended because of allergies in children, anyway, we kept it.

Looking for information about the presence of cats at home, I found something very curious and interesting, there is a therapy called Cat Therapy, which can help us to reduce stress, anxiety and low mood...how about?

I had heard about the benefits of having a pet at home but not about cat therapy. However, little by little it has been growing its role as a friend and domestic companion. What I liked the most is that cats are very independent animals in a way, they don't require as much care as a dog for example. Living with this pet at home brings certain benefits at a psychological level as it allows to encourage and strengthen communication between family members, teaches children that they have responsibilities in the care of the pet, to respect animals.

Its benefits have been studied in people with physical disabilities or emotional disorders, such as Down syndrome, autism, behavioral disorders in children. It is also advisable for the elderly to live with cats, especially when they are alone, since their daily contact with the cat helps them with their emotions and feelings.

The most important thing is that we must be aware that having a cat in the house we must take responsibility, take care of its health and welfare. In cat therapy, the cat participates in the process but he does what he wants and decides what he does not want, he is not only a tool to obtain some benefit and he has his own needs.

It only remains for me to tell you that it has been a nice experience and I hope you also put it into practice.

See you next time!
