No doubt we will all remember 2020 as a year in which a small virus turned our world, global and personal, upside down. What didn't we see last year? Confinement, curfews, more distance and less hugging, schools and businesses closing, rooms and halls turning into offices, and no doubt, a mouthpiece as another piece of clothing.

But it wasn't all bad, there is no doubt that it also left us with great lessons and made us aware of many values that we had forgotten, especially something very valuable that we had relegated to second place, to spend more time at home with our family.

Thanks to the circumstances surrounding 2020 we had the opportunity to put a stop to the accelerated pace of life we had, and to be able to dedicate more time to the care of our loved ones, and even to the care of ourselves, as health became a priority. The confinement led us to appreciate more the ties with our family and friends, leading us to strengthen them despite the distance, and made us more empathetic to the whole world. It also made us appreciate the present more, treasuring more strongly each moment we lived.

And how should we prepare for this 2021?

Under this context that still persists, let's turn the page by staying only with the good and what gives us a benefit to focus on this 2021, and follow some tips that can help us better prepare this new year.

1. Make your purpose list

Don't let last year's circumstances prevent you from dreaming of a better 2021, make your list of purposes, let's make a balance of the previous year, and through a process of introspection let's make a list of everything we want to achieve this year; at this point don't put limits on yourself, many experts agree that when you write your wishes most of them are achieved, and the year is just beginning, so there's a good chance of achieving them.

2. Divide your wishes into goals

After you have made your list of purposes, reflect on them and very consciously choose the three that you most desire and that you think you can fulfill in a short time.

3. Take action

Once you have selected your first goals for the year it is time to move on to external action. Create a flowchart or mind map outlining your plan of action.

These graphic representations, where we give structure to an idea through words and shapes, have great cognitive potential. It will allow us to put down on paper the necessary actions to achieve our goals. I recommend adding small and concrete actions, since this way we will stay motivated.

4. Fulfill your goals

A long journey is made step by step, as the saying goes "the first step does not take you where you want to be but takes you away from where you were".

As we cross out tasks and actions we will achieve our proposed goals. And once we have achieved the first three that we have set, we will select another three to keep moving forward. It is easier and faster to achieve a few goals than if we try to achieve many at the same time.
The important thing is to perform actions daily, no matter how small, so you will achieve great processes even without realizing it, and your discipline will be reinforced.

Well friends, motivation, discipline and perseverance are the essential ingredients to achieve our goals, and to keep us motivated the best thing is to commit 100% and do small actions that add up. Remember, "to want is to be able". Happy and prosperous year 2021!
