In the Chinese tradition, calligraphy and painting are considered very similar concepts in spirit. I didn't understand why this was so until I started painting more often in watercolors. It's all about the ease and smoothness of the brush movements. If you draw symbols and letters with a trembling, inexperienced hand, they will come out crooked and ugly. It is the same in watercolors: the more experience the artist has, the softer and more airy his work turns out.
В Китайской традиции каллиграфия и живопись считаются очень близкими по духу понятиями. Раньше я не понимал - почему это так, пока сам не стал чаще рисовать акварелью. Всё дело в лёгкости и плавности движений кистью. Если чертить символы и буквы дрожащей, неопытной рукой, то они выйдут кривыми и некрасивыми. Точно так же и в акварели: чем больше опыта у художника, тем мягче и воздушнее получается его работа.
