Sometimes in my lessons I suggest children to copy some ready-made work. There is nothing shameful in this, because in this case, children do not just draw, but also work out the technique of a certain style of drawing.
I do not always do this because I understand that children need to draw on their own, and not just copy, but remembering the experience of the great artists of the Renaissance, I can not neglect such an important method.
In the old days, artists often forced their students to make copies of finished works. In this case, the student is focused not so much on inventing something of his own, but on the subtleties of a certain drawing technique. Thus, he learns to work out different methods of working with art materials and is not loaded with other information.
However, it is necessary not only to work with copies. You need to alternate lessons and ask students to draw something of their own or write from nature. So in the next lesson, we drew a flower in a pot.
