In most places across the globe, people have found themselves in some tight positions and they had to compromise to save themselves. I have seen and heard about highly principled individuals who was broken and choose the wrong thing. Here are some cases, where you wouldn't blame them, not like they had a choice.
An hard working manager who is married with kids and have family to cater for got involved in a financial scandal which connects him with the owner of the company. Investigation were made and was made to appear before the panel and which a huge sum of money went unappropriated and the manager knows the money was given out to the CEO with the knowledge of other staff or proper records taken. In cases like this, the manager wouldn't want to speak ill about the CEO cos if he do, he might lose his job which means a lot to him. He decides to defend his Boss lying to other stakeholders of the company, just to save his job.
Another of this scenario is the case of the Finance minister, Central Bank Governor, Accountant General and Auditoral General of Nigeria who job is to ensure money keeps flowing and circulated properly through the right channel. These people mentioned especially the Finance minister who have said in several cases how money was released to the government without anyone have the guts to ask what the money is met or to be used for. She said last week that the Parliament was bribed with 47 billion naira just to ensure they pass the 2014 budget. She worked for the previous administration, while she was in office. She couldn't make all these things known cos they are protecting who they work. The Central Bank Governor said $2 billion was taken from the bank under the instruction of the President and no one dare asked questions.

Assuming these people will have to stand for what is right and fighting the wrong things and ends up losing their jobs at the end of the day. Would people say nice things about them or help them if they go broke. These individuals have to do what they can to survive. We may find ourselves in a crucial state, do we go against our conscious to save others whom are solely dependent on our earnings or do the right without being scared of what happens next.
We make decisions for different reasons and things we do to survive.
