Our Lady of the Asunci贸n Cathedral, Isla de Margarita-Nueva Esparta

Some days ago I left you a post that referred to the Lesser Basilica of Our Lady of the Valley and I told them that I would continue to teach them similar places that make up the historical and cultural sites of my beautiful Island, so today I am letting you know the second church built throughout the country and the first to be founded on the island of Margarita:
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, is the most emblematic of the state and as can be seen in the images has a unique historical-religious heritage, located between Independencia and Cede帽o streets of Bulevar 5 de Julio, opposite Luisa C谩ceres Plaza de Arismendi and Plaza Bol铆var, in the historic center of the Capital, known as La Asunci贸n.
Its first building dates from the year 1571, which was destroyed by the French in 1602 after an attack on the island, the church was in ruins and only the main chapel was made of brick and clay, then in the year 1.609 began to build again, four years later the temple has the walls raised and the pillars where the arches have to rest, culminating its construction in the year of 1621.
The church exposes all its trajectory through the centuries, this has not had any type of significant remodeling with the primary intention of being able to preserve its original facade in comparison with other temples, especially by the bell tower located next to the construction.
Note that during Holy Week is the date where the cathedral is most visited by both locals and tourists, where they develop a variety of religious activities including the processions and masses, as a way to commemorate life, passion , death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as cultural events and live music from the region, especially on August 15, the day where the community meets to celebrate the feasts of Our Lady of La Asunci贸n, patron saint of the capital of the Nueva Esparta state.
Upon entering the church you can feel that you travel in time, because there is a combination of irreplaceable historical-spiritual interest, being able to notice in the images some Renaissance aspects that contrast with the colonial style of the building that are built in pure wood, creating in this way an original contrast between the history, culture and religion of this insular region, making it one of the obligatory stops for Catholic visitors.
Next to the church is located Luisa C谩ceres de Arismendi Square (Figure that symbolizes the presence of women in the Venezuelan War of Independence) and in its surroundings has historic houses, some museums and restaurants. This site has locals who are located in small tables with handicrafts, sweets and the famous margarithe empanadas.
