A very interesting topic this week. I often hear that people living in urban areas mostly live in rented or leased homes. Perhaps because the population is already dense, land prices are very high in urban areas, and the cost of building a house is also very high, so they prefer to live in rented homes, even though they have to pay rent every month or every year.
This is very different from where I live in a rural area. We don't adhere to the culture of renting; we prefer to build our own homes. 98 percent of the people in my area live in their own homes, not rented ones. Only a small percentage rent shophouses to use as residences. In fact, in my area, no one builds a house specifically for boarding or rental purposes.
After getting married, we usually live with our in-laws for about two years while finishing building our own house. In my area, there is still a lot of vacant land, so land prices are not too high, especially since every parent in my area has a fairly large plot of land that can be used to build a house for their children after getting married. It's become a habit and culture for me that after marriage, we will immediately build a house, with the help of my parents and in-laws, so there's almost no rent.
When I first wanted to move into my new house, my first concern was the security of the house and its suitability. In this context, it's not about luxury, but about suitability. First, the level of security from thieves and wild animals, as the doors, windows, walls, roof, and surrounding environment are very secure. Second, the availability of essential resources such as water, toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and lighting (electricity).
I believe that if all of the above are met, then the house is ready to be moved in and we can move into the new house. However, gardening, decorations, and beautification can be done later, gradually, so that everything feels beautiful and comfortable when moving into the new house. In this context, it's our own home, not a rental.
Perhaps if it's a rental house, the things we should consider before moving in are the security of the house before moving in, the surrounding environment and location are easily accessible, have all the amenities required for a house, are livable, and are worth the rent. It takes some time to get to know the surroundings and... You must truly understand the environment there, because if it's a bad environment, it won't be comfortable to live there. It's better to look for another rental.
Before moving into a new house, you should inspect it first and approach the local residents to understand the conditions there. If it's bad, you should cancel immediately. You'll be living there for a long time with your family. You can't take bad risks that will constantly terrorize your family. Don't be tempted by cheap rental prices, or you'll regret it.
