Feliz lunes needleworkers las vacaciones se vienen disfrutando mucho, necesitaba un descanso de las clases, realmente hacer 3 materias y trabajar 6 días a la semana fue muy agotador, por suerte el segundo cuatrimestre voy a hacer solo dos, y creo que será mucho más manejable. Entre las cosas que aprendí a hacer en lencería y corsetería fue un corset base escote corazón.
Happy Monday, needleworkers! I'm really enjoying the holidays; I needed a break from classes. Taking three subjects and working six days a week was exhausting. Luckily, I'll only be taking two classes in the second semester, which I think will be much more manageable. Among the things I learned to make in lingerie and corsetry was a basic sweetheart neckline corset.
Para hacer este corset empezamos de la base de body y se trazan unos patrones, algo que si no me termina de cerrar con las molderías que hicimos es que al hacer todo tan a un talle estándar a la hora de hacerlo a mis medidas no sé cómo va a quedar, ya que muchas de mis compañeras cuando lo hacían en sus propios cuerpos tenían mucho que ajustar y a veces no era del todo claro que pasos seguir, algo que siento que le falta a la carrera es una materia más practica sobre calce y ajuste en prendas básicas.
To make this corset, we started with a basic bodysuit and drew some patterns. Something that doesn't quite convince me about the patterns we made is that, since everything is made to a standard size, when it comes to making it to my measurements, I don't know how it will look. Many of my classmates, when they made it on their own bodies, had a lot to adjust, and sometimes it wasn't entirely clear what steps to follow. Something I feel the course lacks is a more practical subject on fit and adjustment in basic garments.
Este corset lleva ballenas plásticas y forreria, para cuando lo empecé a hacer ya estaba una semana atrasada, y me había quedado sin clases de consulta jajaja en paralelo estaba resolviendo otras materias, así que para resolver este corset me encerré todo un sábado a coser, así que después de cortar mi tela armé mis canales de ballena, como guía tenía unos videos que había en la plataforma que usamos, pero el proceso es bastante parecido a hacer un bustier y como ya había hecho uno hace unos años, no estaba tan perdida.
This corset has plastic boning and lining. By the time I started making it, I was already a week behind schedule, and I had missed my tutoring sessions, haha. I was also working on other subjects, so to finish this corset, I locked myself away all Saturday to sew. After cutting my fabric, I made my boning channels. I had some videos on the platform we use as a guide, but the process is quite similar to making a bustier, and since I had already made one a few years ago, I wasn't too lost.
Para que pase la ballena hacemos un canal, lo ideal es usar una ballena de 0.8 y una cinta bies de 1 cm de ancho, se cose a 1mm y ahí se arma el canal, obviamente yo que estaba super atrasada no hice eso, conseguí ballenas de 0.6 y mi cinta bies era de 2cm, básicamente fingí que nada pasaba y seguí adelante con el proyecto.
To allow the whale to pass through, we make a channel. Ideally, you should use a 0.8mm whale and 1cm wide bias tape, sewn at 1mm to create the channel. Obviously, since I was super behind schedule, I didn't do that. I got 0.6mm whales and my bias tape was 2cm wide. Basically, I pretended nothing was wrong and continued with the project.
Lo siguiente fue armar el cuerpo y la forreria, que es exactamente igual, pero sin canales de ballena, este proyecto tuvo mucho uso de plancha para que quede bien.
The next step was to assemble the body and the lining, which is exactly the same, but without whalebone channels; this project used a lot of ironing to make it look good.
Cuando uní la forreria desde arriba pase un pespunte de retención, esto lo hago siempre sobre la forreria o una vista para que no se encime.
When I joined the lining from the top, I added a retaining stitch; I always do this over the lining or a facing so that it doesn't overlap.

Después solo restaba planchar toda la base y cerrar la espalda, que dicho así parece simple pero solo podíamos usar cruce con cintas.
After that, all that remained was to iron the entire base and close the back, which sounds simple enough, but we could only use ribbon crossing.
Para hacer esto cosí cinta bies a 1 cm y luego corté 22 tiritas del mismo largo, las cosí a una tela base y después las acomodé en corset, no se me hacía viable ponerlas en el corset una por una.
To do this I sewed bias tape at 1 cm and then cut 22 strips of the same length, sewed them to a base fabric and then arranged them in a corset, it was not feasible for me to put them in the corset one by one.
Además, el corset en la espalda en esa zona para que no se deforme al ajustar lleva también otra ballena, pero al ajustarlo queda super lindo, no es una prenda en la que me haya fijado alguna vez, pero ahora tengo ganas de hacerme alguno para mí.
Also, the corset has another boning in the back area to prevent it from deforming when adjusted, but when adjusted it looks super cute. It's not a garment I've ever noticed before, but now I want to make one for myself.
A simple vista parece fácil, pero lleva mucho tiempo de armado por la cantidad de ballenas que lleva, en total me tomo unas 6 horas realizar toda la costura de este corset, también llevo mucho planchado para que quede bien.
At first glance it seems easy, but it takes a long time to assemble because of the number of boning pieces it has. In total, it took me about 6 hours to do all the sewing on this corset, and I also spent a lot of ironing on it to make it look good.
Este es un poco del resultado, lo que se ve en la espalda es la vista flotante, en el maniquí quedo muy bien, pero en la reducción de medidas me quedo un poco chico para mi modelo y hubo que hacer trucos de edición en el video para que no se note, ya que nos piden videos para chequear el calce de las prendas, hice varios corset más para esta materia, pero eso lo verán en otra ocasión.
This is a bit of the result; what you see on the back is the floating view. It looked great on the mannequin, but in the reduced measurements it was a little small for my model, and I had to use editing tricks in the video so it wouldn't be noticeable, since they ask us for videos to check the fit of the garments. I made several more corsets for this subject, but you'll see those another time.
