Some say life’s a bitch and then you die. I say life is what you want it to be once you try. - yourfinesight

Some people say that “life’s a bitch and then you die”. Yes it can be if you spend the majority of it doing things that add no real value to your future, or not taking care of your physical and mental health.

When people spend their lives, wasting the opportunities that bring success and happiness. They tend to look back and say life was a bitch, because they believe that they did not get the chance to do the things they wanted to.

So let’s break down some of the things the average person does in their 80 years, to see where this belief stems from.

11 ½ Years at Work

The average person would spend about 11 ½ years working, if it was non-stop, and that’s normally for someone else. It is good that the average person works, but when it’s for someone else, then that person reaps most of the benefits.

4 Years on the Phone at Work

This doesn't include calls at home. So that’s a very long time on the phone, wouldn’t you say?

5 Months on Cigarette Breaks

At work not only does the average person give away a lot of their time, but some go even further and damage their health too. The average person will spend 160 days, popping out for cigarette breaks.

27 days waiting for trains

The average person spends 27 days on a train platform. A lot of this waiting can be linked to going to work for someone else, which in turn means that you are giving even more time to someone else.

7 Years of Insomnia

Worry and anxiety is part of an average person’s life. They will therefore spend 7 years of their lives under stress and finding it hard to go to sleep.

26 Years Sleeping

The average person spends 26 years in bed sleeping. While rest is essential, you must sleep only when it is time to do so and never overdo it. Sleep should be the reward for a successful days work.

4 ½ Years Eating

On average, a person spends 4 ½ years eating, but just as with sleeping this should be done at the right time, and never in excess.

30 Years In Front Of a Screen

On average, a person spends 30 years staring at a screen. This includes computers, televisions, mobiles and tablets. What can I say about this one; the internet is a two sided sword, on one side an average person can get access to unlimited information like never before. On the other hand, an average person can waste these years, just searching and taking part in activities that is in no way beneficial to their life. The same can be said about watching TV and allowing it to dominate your life.

½ A Year in Queues

If most of the times it was done to go somewhere fun, like on holiday then it might be ok. Unfortunately this is not the case.

5 Months Complaining

The average person spends 5 months of the year complaining, since they normally get themselves into situations where they have little control over the outcome.

So as you can see, life is only a bitch if you live it in the wrong way, when you take control of your life and get yourself into a position where you are doing the things that you enjoy. It is only then that you will live a truly complete and happy life.

If you are only doing things because it is easy or because that it is what everyone else expects you to do, you will become old, look back on your life, and only have experiences that are unpleasant.
