I was wondering why is it 'Dollar'? Why do they share the same name? So I looked up and I'll tell you guys, too!
Since USD is the most common dollar, many might think it came from the US or maybe from the Britain. Surprisingly the origin is Czech. In 1520, the Bohemian Kingdom of Czech began to make coins out of silver from Joachimsthal. They called it Joachimsthaler which became Thaler or Taler. So, that was the beginning. Spreading out was done by the Dutchs. Dutch coin was called leeuwendaler. The Dutch Republic was very powerful at the time and it had international trades with Asia, North America, and everywhere else. Dollar made its way in history that way.
