Today I would like to share this artwork I made for my profile.
I was planning on replacing it soon so here is the colored version.
Before I made this, I thought about how my profile should look.
I want my character to represent some of my characteristics.
Starting from the face, I had it made expressionless and have dead eyes. People also notice my brown eyes so I had it brown. Then of course my messy hair. I made it look like the quiet type since I don't talk too much and just keep things in my thoughts. The concept behind the halo and the horn was actually inspired by the Snapchat filter. Also, it reflects on me since I am half a good gal and half a bad gal.
Going back to the drawing, I would like to show you my process. This time I tried to do different style in coloring. I tried to make it somehow 3D instead of the normal anime drawing on 2D.
Sketch
Starting from the sketch, you can see that I have a guide for the face of my character. For me, It is a must to have a guide for the head because it is where I start doing things. You can see that there is a curved line which is a guide for the nose and the jaw. Another important thing in sketch is don't overdo it. You don't want to get tired doing the details on just the sketch so I just put the sketch of how my messy hair will flow.
Lineart
Next is lineart. Since I wanted a clear drawing, I put some lineart and this is also where I put the other detail works. I erased some lines on the face and the hand because I wanted to make it look somehow like 3D.
Base Color
Then I put my base colors for the character. Since I have decided that my eye is brown, I also made the hair brown. I put a much darker base color for the skin unlike what I'm putting on my previous work.
Skin Shading
For the skin, I've used a lot of different shades of the base color. There are lighter and darker shades. Some color are close to peach, some are close to yellow, and some color close to brown.
Hair Shading
Shading the hair, I used 'multiply' to make it darker. It is also to add depth to the division of the hair. The I used 'add' to make the lighting on the hair. 'Add" is what makes the hair looks bright and shiny.
Clothes
For the clothes, I just did a simple shading. I first did put the colors and then used the blur tool.
Halo and Horn
For the halo and horn, I made the halo yellow and the horn red since that is what the color's supposed to be. Then I did some shading and lighting to somehow make it look three dimensional.
Background
Last and not least is the background. For this, I thought about what the background should be. I made it dark blue since the character is not bringing that much expression and highlighted the character with the color of the light of the halo and the thorn.
