Hello everyone! Today I have here a fanart request from a friend. I was asked to draw Nakiri Erina, from the anime "Shokugeki no Soma" or known as "Food wars", in her swimsuit and her look in Season 5.

I'm not really familiar at drawing water so I had to use some reference. I wanted to put more depth in my drawing but I can't make the water more realistic so I just made it more 2D so that the character would match the background.
I used IbisPaint X ap and my fingers.
This drawing took 6 hours and 49 minutes
Anyways here is my process.

Sketch

Always the first thing that I do is sketching. What I did was did a sketch normally because it is easier to sketch with the character not tilted. I can easily determine if the proportion is right. I also flip the canvass to check if my sketch is correct.

Lineart

Next is the lineart. After I traced my sketch, I selected the character using the 'lasso tool' and then used 'transform' to tilt the character.

Background Base

For the background, since it is in a beach I filled it with water and put a little island at the back. For the sky, I used 'airbrush' tool so the color is lighter as it reaches the horizon line. I also put a a base color for the splash.

Background details

Then the details, I randomly put lighter color of blue to put some wavy effects on the sea. For the island, I gave it some green colors to somehow make it look like there are trees there. Then the water splash, I used light blue and white with the 'airbrush' tool for a little transparency.

Character Base Colors

After the background, i proceed to the character putting its base colors. You can see that the swimsuit is not fully colored with black. That is because I erased it to put a little transparency.

Character Shading

NE06.png

Then the character shading, as you all know it, I blend lighter and darker shades of the base color to put it to life.

Effects and Lightings

Lastly is the effects, I added some lights because it is sunny at the sea. I did that using 'airbrush' tool and with the blending mode 'add' to make the color bright. I also added some water at the body for additional effects.

That's all I wanted to share for today!
The person who requested this liked it and I hope you like it too.
Have a nice day!
