I liked the way that light glinted off this pair of glass mugs pictured above.
Each time I would look at them I would imagine them against different backgrounds and could not imagine a suitable background.
I finally decided that the idea picture would be with the mugs floating in the sky.
I had some window panes that I salvaged from a construction project. I put the window pane on a sawhorse and was able to take a picture with the sky in the background. This second image shows the set up. Notice the sweet shadow of the mugs. This would be a good way to isolate out the shadows cast by an object.
Here is a second shot taken from under the table. You can see artifacts of the set up.
I admit. I like this technique. I think I will use this set up for other pictures of objects as you can see the full object and not the thing it is sitting on. It also makes it look like the object is floating. This would be a good set up for photographing objects for ebay.
