The findings of my pregnancy didn't meet me at a good time. I had just finished from high School and was trying to get admission into the university. I was bàrely 17 when I met Kennedy during my jamb classes. We were in love at least I thought so, not until the news of my pregnancy got to him. His behavior towards me completely changed. To make matters worst he was to leave for the states soonest, I knew this because he was already making plans while we were dating.
I gathered up courage and went that day to his house to tell his parents.
To my greatest surprise, Kennedy left the night before but then I told his parents who I met in the sitting room. In my presence, they called Kennedy who denied having anything to do me and denying the pregnancy. That day, my entire world ended as his parentsk walked me out of their house calling me a whore and a gold digger. I left that house that day filled with shame and I promised that would be the last.
I lied to my parents that I needed to go to Benin to visit my aunt so she could give me some of her stuffs for school. I got transport fare from them and stole a wad of notes from my dad's drawer. On getting to the park, I didn't board a bus to Benin but Cross River State. I had put off my lines so nobody could reach me but I definitely knew my parents would be worried so I bought a sim card and sent my dad a message
To the most amazing parents the world has given to me, I love you for birthing me, but I have brought so much shame to us and it's even bigger than it's carrier. I didn't go to Benin, I ran away, from shame, from scorn, from hurt, from disappointment. You must have also realized a missing wad of money from your drawer, I took that and I'm sorry too. I hope you both can truly forgive me.
