| Hello, friends! Last week, I finally managed to find the mushrooms I had been searching for — the scarlet elf cup (Sarcoscypha coccinea). I came across it just before the cold spell that covered the ground with snow. Right now, we’re experiencing a kind of spring that feels more like winter, though the weather was quite lovely before that. I wrote last week that I tried to find the elf cup in the spot where I had seen it many years in a row — but this time, I wasn’t successful. Instead, I stumbled upon it completely by chance in a different location while walking with Maksym, not even planning to go mushroom hunting. And there it was — a surprising discovery! This mushroom is also called the elf’s chalice because of its bright red color and its distinctive cup-like shape. Some even compare it to a cap for the same reason. Although the scarlet elf cup is considered edible, I don’t harvest it — I already have plenty of other mushrooms that I collect in the summer, like porcini or slippery jacks. But I love photographing the elf cup. It’s a fascinating mushroom to observe, study, and of course, capture on camera. Every spring, I try to find and photograph it, and this time, I got lucky — so I’m happy to share these photos with you. | Привіт, друзі! Минулого тижня я таки зміг знайти бажані гриби, які шукав — саркосцифу червону (Sarcoscypha coccinea). Це сталося ще до похолодання, яке вкрило землю снігом. Зараз у нас справді такий період весни, що більше нагадує зиму. А ще до того була дуже гарна погода. Я вже писав минулого тижня, що намагався знайти саркосцифу в тому місці, де бачив її багато років поспіль — але цього разу безуспішно. Натомість я зовсім випадково натрапив на неї в іншому місці, де просто прогулювався з Максимом, навіть не плануючи шукати гриби. І от — несподівана знахідка! Цей гриб ще називають ельфійською чашею— через яскраво-червоний колір і специфічну форму, що нагадує чашу. Іноді його ще порівнюють із шапкою — очевидно, теж через форму. Хоча саркосцифа вважається їстівною, я її не збираю. У мене є чимало інших грибів, які я заготовляю влітку, коли їжджу в ліс — наприклад, білі гриби або маслюки. А саркосцифу я люблю фотографувати. Це дуже цікавий гриб для спостереження, вивчення — і, звісно ж, для зйомки. Щовесни я намагаюся її знайти і сфотографувати. І цього разу мені пощастило — я знайшов її й охоче ділюся з вами світлинами. |
