Back at the Beach: A Relaxing Day (Eng/Esp)

Today I had the chance to visit Maigualida Beach, a tourist spot located in Marigüitar, Bolívar Municipality. We arrived early, and everything looked peaceful—calm waters, a clear sky, and various boobies flying about, looking for the perfect moment to hunt.

We looked for the coziest spot to provide some shade, so a few coconut trees were perfect for resting and enjoying the beautiful scenery. I loved this beach because I could see the seabed clearly—you could make out the rocks, seaweed, and various crevices, which were probably hiding spots for some crabs.

As the afternoon wore on, the atmosphere on the beach changed dramatically, as the Municipal Government’s Recreation Network brought various games for children and teenagers: a trampoline, a volleyball net, hula hoops, and a Frisbee. This group also played music at a fairly high volume for everyone’s enjoyment. This is a project designed to promote healthy recreation on the beach.

The young people had a great time; you could really feel the joy in the air. Events like this keep the kids busy with different physical activities, steering them away from drugs and other vices. This time, the group of volunteers spent about four hours at the beach—enough time to keep everyone dancing to the beats of reggaeton, salsa, and merengue.

I enjoyed this outing; it had been a while since I’d gone swimming at the beach. Sometimes, we just need to take a break from our routine and pack a bag to get out and about—great tourist destinations are just a stone’s throw away, so we should make the most of them.

Hoy tuve la oportunidad de conocer la playa Maigualida, un lugar turístico que se encuentra en Marigüitar, Municipio Bolívar. Llegamos temprano y todo se veía en calma, aguas tranquilas, cielo despejado y diversos alcatraces volando, buscando el momento perfecto para cazar.

Buscamos el lugar más acogedor para que nos brindara sombra, así que unos cocoteros fueron perfectos para descansar y deleitarnos con el hermoso paisaje. Me encantó esta playa porque podía mirar con claridad el fondo, se veían las piedras, las algas y diversos huecos, probablemente el escondite de algunos cangrejos.

Ya avanzada la tarde, el ambiente en la playa cambió drásticamente, pues la Red de recreación de la Alcaldía Municipal trajo diversos juegos para los niños y adolescentes; un trampolín, una malla de vóleibol, ula ulas y Frisbi. Este grupo también colocó música a volumen considerable para el disfrute de todos. Este es un proyecto para el sano esparcimiento en la playa.

Los jóvenes se divirtieron mucho, se notaba la alegría en el lugar, este tipo de jornadas mantiene a los muchachos ocupados en diferentes actividades físicas, alejándolos de las drogas y cualquier otro vicio. En esta oportunidad, el grupo de voluntarios estuvo en la playa alrededor de unas cuatro horas, tiempo suficiente para mantener a todos bailando al ritmo de reguetón, salsa y merengue.

Me gustó esta salida, tenía tiempo que no me bañaba en la playa. A veces, solo necesitamos poner un alto a la rutina y preparar el bolso para salir, los buenos destinos turísticos solo están a un paso de distancia y por eso hay que aprovecharlos.
