El día de hoy les voy a compartir un Tutorial sobre una Esponja Exfoliante de Baño, y se me ocurrió hacerla porque tengo una tela que compré en una oportunidad cuando mi hija era modelo, para hacer un desfile en traje de baño en una piscina de un Hotel reconocido. Los trajes de baño eran de un patrocinante, pero las modelos debían llevar un pareo llamativo y elegante porque el desfile era de noche.

Así que compré una tela que es como un tejido con huecos, y la tela tiene como hilos transparentes entrecruzados por todo el tejido, que brillan bastante cuando les da la luz. Es una tela hermosa y el pareo quedó espectacular, pero era horrible de soportarlo, porque picaba y era fuerte al tacto, así que más nunca la usé, y se me ocurrió que dada las características de la tela podía aprovecharla para hacer una Esponja Exfoliante para el Baño o la Ducha

Today I am going to share with you a Tutorial about a Bath Exfoliating Sponge, and I thought of making it because I have a fabric that I bought once when my daughter was a model, to make a swimsuit parade in a pool of a renowned Hotel. The swimsuits were from a sponsor, but the models had to wear a flashy and elegant sarong because the parade was at night.

So I bought a fabric that is like a woven fabric with holes, and the fabric has like transparent threads crisscrossed throughout the fabric, which shimmer quite a bit when the light hits them. It is a beautiful fabric and the sarong was spectacular, but it was horrible to support it, because it was itchy and strong to the touch, so I never used it again, and it occurred to me that given the characteristics of the fabric I could use it to make an Exfoliating Sponge for the Bath or Shower.

Lo cierto es que ya había usado esta tela para hacer esponjas. El año pasado hice 5 esponjas, una para cada uno, mi esposo, mi hijo, mis 2 hijas y yo, y la experiencia fue bastante buena. No las he tenido que cambiar tan rápido como otras esponjas comerciales, ni se desechan tan rápido como las esponjas naturales que a veces uno consigue. Son bastantes buenas para bañarse y lavar el cuerpo, y se mantienen bien blanquitas.

Dada mi buena experiencia con esa tela, quería hacer un Guante de baño, porque es más cómodo de usar, para lavar las piernas o espalda. De manera que hoy decidí hacer este proyecto.

Aquí les voy a poner unas fotos de las esponjas que hice el año pasado, fíjense que se ve muy bien con todo el uso que ya han tenido.

The truth is that I had already used this fabric to make sponges. Last year I made 5 sponges, one for each of us, my husband, my son, my 2 daughters and myself, and the experience was quite good. I have not had to change them as quickly as other commercial sponges, nor do they throw away as quickly as the natural sponges you sometimes get. They are quite good for bathing and body washing, and they stay nice and white.

Given my good experience with that cloth, I wanted to make a Bathing Glove, because it is more comfortable to use, to wash the legs or back. So today I decided to make this project.

Here are some pictures of the sponges I made last year, look how good they look with all the use they have already had.

Paso 1: Tomé una hoja en blanco y puse mi mano como referencia para hacer el patrón del guante. Marqué una distancia de 2cms e hice el dibujo que son dos curvas, una para el pulgar y otra para el otro grupo de dedos. Recorté el patrón.

Recomendación: No uses la tijera de cortar tela para cortar papel.

Step 1: I took a blank sheet of paper and put my hand as a reference to make the pattern of the glove. I marked a distance of 2cms and made the drawing which is two curves, one for the thumb and one for the other set of fingers. I cut out the pattern.

Recommendation: Do not use the fabric cutting scissors to cut paper.

Paso 2: Tomé la tela y la doblé en cuatro partes, coloqué el patrón del guante y lo corté. Puedes ver que se cortó bastante bien, tenía dudas ya que son cuatro capas, pero resultó bastante fácil.

Step 2: I took the fabric and folded it in four parts, placed the pattern of the glove and cut it out. You can see that it cut out pretty well, I had doubts since it's four layers, but it turned out pretty easy.

Paso 3: En la tela de algodón corté una tira de 3cms de ancho por 80cms de largo. Esta será para unir todo el guante, y es buena idea usar una tela que tenga colores llamativos.

Step 3: On the cotton fabric I cut a strip 3cms wide by 80cms long. This will be to join the whole glove, and it is a good idea to use a fabric that has bright colors.

Paso 4: Comencé a coser la tira en la pieza principal del guante. Para ello coloqué la tira con su cara hacia el guante, el cual tiene las 4 piezas juntas. Comencé por una esquina, es decir por lo que es el puño del guante, y con una costura recta cosí por todo el borde.

Hay que prestar atención a que se cosan las 4 piezas del guante, ya que la malla tiene huecos y hay que ir acomodando las tiritas que se van quedando en el borde, pero con una puntada pequeña se van agarrando todo perfectamente.

Importante: No coser la parte inferior, lo que es el puño del guante.

Step 4: I started sewing the strip on the main piece of the glove. To do this I placed the strip with its face towards the glove, which has the 4 pieces together. I started at one corner, that is, at the cuff of the glove, and with a straight seam I sewed all around the edge.

It is necessary to pay attention to sew the 4 pieces of the glove, since the mesh has holes and you have to accommodate the strips that are left on the edge, but with a small stitch they will hold everything perfectly.

Important: Do not sew the lower part, which is the cuff of the glove.

Tip Importante: Para coser el ángulo que se forma entre las dos curvas del diseño del guante, se cose hasta llegar a la punta del ángulo y luego tomé la tela que viene en otra dirección y la abrí de manera que quedara recto. Seguí cosiendo normal como una recta normal, y luego de pasar por esa parte al soltar la tela, ella vuelve a tomar su forma, pero ya tiene cosida la tira, sin problema alguno.

Important Tip: To sew the angle that is formed between the two curves of the mitten design, sew until you reach the tip of the angle and then I took the fabric that comes in the other direction and opened it up so that it was straight. I continued sewing as a normal straight stitch, and after passing through that part when I let go of the fabric, it takes its shape again, but the strip is already sewn on, no problem at all.

Paso 5: Vuelvo donde empecé a coser mi tira, ahora volteo la tira hacia el otro lado, de manera que queda expuesta la cara de la tira hacia afuera, la doblo para enconder su borde, y la posiciono al otro lado para coserla. Así recorrí todo el guante hasta tenerla completamente cosido. (Recuerda que aún no hemos tocado el puño del guante)

Step 5: I go back to where I started sewing my strip, now turn the strip to the other side, so that it is exposed strip side out, fold it over to meet its edge, and position it on the other side to sew it. This is how I went all the way around the glove until I had it completely sewn. (Remember that we have not yet touched the cuff of the glove).

Paso 6: Ahora su voy a coser el puño del guante. Para ello, tomo solo 2 piezas del guante para comenzar a coser la tira o vivo. Empiezo a coser por las 2 piezas y de forma continua sigo por las otras 2 piezas, ya que se va a formar una circunferencia. Lo hago colocando la tira con su cara hacia el guante y coso por el borde.

Step 6: Now I am going to sew the cuff of the glove. To do this, I take only 2 pieces of the glove to start sewing the strip. I start sewing through the 2 pieces and continue sewing through the other 2 pieces, since it will form a circumference. I do this by placing the strip with its face towards the glove and sew along the edge.

Luego, volteo la tira y coso por el otro extremo, tal como hicimos en el borde del guante, en el paso anterior.

Then, I turn the strip over and sew on the other end, just as we did on the edge of the glove in the previous step.

Ya mi guante está listo. Decidí darle una segunda costura para tener más seguridad. Mi mano entra perfectamente, y queda holgado. Cuando meto mi mano queda bien ubicada y puedo usarlo en las dos manos.

My glove is ready. I decided to give it a second seam for more security. My hand fits perfectly, and it fits loosely. When I put my hand in it is well positioned and I can use it on both hands.

Como ya tenía experiencia con esta tela de malla, ya sabía que se comportaba muy bien haciendo espuma. Aquí pueden ver que se hace espuma, y de verdad que la esponja tiene o cumple la función de Exfoliante, ya que tiene bastante textura.

Since I already had experience with this mesh cloth, I knew that it behaved very well in lathering. Here you can see that it foams, and the sponge really has or fulfills the function of an exfoliator, as it has quite a lot of texture.

Es super agradable la sensación en la piel, queda muy limpia y suave, y tiene comodidad para ponerme el guante y cambiarlo de mano, es muy fácil. La espuma se hace muy rápido.

En mi familia mi hija mayor es quien tiene la piel más sensible siempre, sin embargo ha usado la esponja con este material y le gusta, le deja piel suave y apta para colocarse sus cremas posteriormente, a ella le encanta y ahora por supuesto que ya me pidió que quiere un guante para ella... Ya se que me toca hacer 4 guantes más para que todos tengan sus guantes.

In my family my eldest daughter is the one who always has the most sensitive skin, however she has used the sponge with this material and she likes it, it leaves her skin soft and suitable to apply her creams afterwards, she loves it and now of course she has already asked me that she wants a glove for her.... I already know that I have to make 4 more gloves so that everyone has their gloves.
