Les confieso que apenas vi el tema de esta semana me entusiasmé muchísimo, porque si hay algo que de verdad me mueve las fibras y me llena el corazón, es hablar sobre la vida y lo que representa celebrar un año más de existencia.

​A lo largo de los años he escuchado a muchas personas decir una frase muy típica: "Es que cumplir años no es sumar un año más, sino restar un año de vida". A veces la gente lo dice con cierta nostalgia o con miedo al paso del tiempo. Sin embargo, yo siempre me he negado a verlo de esa forma. Para mí, jamás será "un año menos". ¡Todo lo contrario! Yo lo siento como un año más de oportunidades, de risas, de aprendizajes, de momentos compartidos con mis seres queridos y de batallas superadas. Cada nuevo año es un capítulo conquistado en el libro de nuestra historia, y solo por eso ya vale la pena festejarlo con el alma.

​Para mí, llegar a cada cumpleaños es una bendición inmensa que Dios me concede. Valoro profundamente mi vida, valoro la salud y la dicha de estar presente, caminando este sendero con sus altas y sus bajas. Por eso, siento que no podemos dejar que una fecha tan especial pase desapercibida o como un día cualquiera en el calendario.

I have to admit that as soon as I saw this week’s topic, I got really excited, because if there’s one thing that truly touches my heart and fills me with joy, it’s talking about life and what it means to celebrate another year of existence.

Over the years, I’ve heard many people say a very common phrase: “It’s not about adding another year, but subtracting a year from your life.” Sometimes people say it with a touch of nostalgia or fear of the passage of time. However, I’ve always refused to see it that way. For me, it will never be “one year less.” Quite the opposite! I see it as one more year of opportunities, laughter, lessons learned, moments shared with my loved ones, and battles overcome. Each new year is a chapter conquered in the book of our story, and for that reason alone, it’s worth celebrating with all my heart.

For me, reaching each birthday is an immense blessing that God grants me. I deeply value my life; I value my health and the joy of being here, walking this path with its ups and downs. That’s why I feel we can’t let such a special date go unnoticed or be treated like just another day on the calendar.

Y hablando de celebraciones, hoy quiero confesarles cuál es mi ritual indiscutible e infaltable. Para mí hay algo que sencillamente no puede faltar el día de mi cumpleaños: mi torta.

​El pastel de cumpleaños no es solo un dulce delicioso o un adorno sobre la mesa; para mí representa la alegría, la abundancia y la renovación. Es por eso que, pase lo que pase, yo siempre me aseguro de tener mi torta. Si alguien me la regala, la recibo con el corazón lleno de gratitud; pero si no, ¡yo misma fielmente me la compro o me la preparo! Consentirme a mí misma en mi día es un acto de amor propio. No me importa el tamaño ni lo lujosa que sea, lo realmente importante es tener ese símbolo dulce para picar y compartir.

​Además, prefiero mil veces celebrarlo y cantar el cumpleaños el propio día exacto de mi fecha. Ese instante en el que todos se reúnen a cantar, apagas las velitas, pides un deseo o simplemente dices en silencio un "gracias, Dios, por un año más de vida", es una experiencia mágica e insustituible. And speaking of celebrations, today I want to share with you my absolute, indispensable ritual. For me, there’s one thing that simply can’t be missing on my birthday: my cake.

​A birthday cake isn’t just a delicious treat or a decoration on the table; for me, it represents joy, abundance, and renewal. That’s why, no matter what happens, I always make sure I have my cake. If someone gives it to me as a gift, I accept it with a heart full of gratitude; but if not, I faithfully buy it or bake it myself! Treating myself on my special day is an act of self-love. I don’t care about the size or how fancy it is—what really matters is having that sweet symbol to enjoy and share.

​Besides, I’d much rather celebrate and sing “Happy Birthday” on the exact day of my birthday. That moment when everyone gathers to sing, you blow out the candles, make a wish, or simply say silently, “Thank you, God, for another year of life,” is a magical and irreplaceable experience. It’s the perfect time to pause the daily hustle and bustle, look back with pride, and look forward with hope.
