Today’s message with my first cup of the day is: “Money doesn’t make me Good or Bad.”
There is a common misconception that rich people are bad, corrupt, and take advantage of others. Perhaps it is based on misquoting the Bible by saying, “Money is the root of evil.” Jesus actually says, “The love of money is the root of all evil.”
Money is not evil or the root of evil. The source of evil comes from those who value money over other people and everything else in life. Many wars have been fought and innocent lives sacrificed for the pursuit of wealth.
Yes, there are rich people who are bad. There are also middle class and poor who are bad. Money has nothing to do with it. It’s insane to think that when a person becomes rich, they become bad.
Money is simply a tool. Robert Kiyosaki says, “Money is not the most important thing in life, but it does affect everything that is important.” It is nearly impossible to function in society at even the most basic levels without the use of money.
T. Harv Eker says, “Money is simply a tool just like a hammer. A hammer can be used to build or to destroy. A hammer is neither good nor bad, it’s about the person holding the hammer.” He goes on to say, “Money will only make you more of what you already are.” Yes, money empowers some bad people to be really bad. But guess what? “If you are a good person, more money will allow you to do more good.”
Money doesn’t make me good or bad. I am who I am regardless. However, money can allow me to become a better version of me, a healthy and free person who can bless others with good out of my abundance.
