It was in the year 806 that the Tocho-Ji temple was founded by Governor Taishi Kobo, in the city of Fukuoka, considered the origin of Japanese civilization. In fact, today this city has very modern establishments such as shopping galleries, museums and large recreation areas that know how to dazzle both tourists and outsiders.

Regarding the Tocho-Ji temple, the visitor who enters such a sanctuary for the first time will feel that he is in a place where centuries ago it enjoyed great activity both on a commercial and religious level.

From the entrance, you can see a large-scale Buddha and also tombs of the lords of the Kuroda clan with calligraphy models (Shoso) by the Sendai artist. On the other hand, there is also a sculpture of the hundred-handed God of Mercy (considered both a historical and artistic legacy for the country).

Those interested in visiting the temple should use the subway to Gion station or also the bus to Gion-machi. The temple never closes throughout the year.
