Kim's Taste #23: Grilled Chicken at Mang Inasal

Welcome to the 23rd edition of Kim's Taste! I can't believe I was able to sustain some momentum. Let's keep it flowing!

This week's weekly choice is about a famous fast-food chain here in the Philippines, but it doesn't looked like a fast-food chain to me. It seemed like a comfort food to me whenever I feel hungry or craved some chicken.

To those who already knew, of course, we talking about Mang Inasal! For those who have no idea yet, please read on.

MANG INASAL

_{Juicy Grilled Chicken on A Budget}

Mang Inasal became a staple fast-food place to go for people in all levels of social strata. I often hear that the restaurant is the place where the poor and the rich meet. And it's understandable because their grilled chicken is so juicy and tasty that families often flock the restaurant's branches in the Philippines especially on weekends and holidays.

We were famished when we decided to eat at Mang Inasal in Gaisano Grand Mall Carcar before heading south of Cebu. Actually, there's no need worry if you're in the Philippines because almost all of the malls here have a Mang Inasal branch.

For about $2.00, you can have unlimited rice and a whole leg of grilled chicken. Whenever I'm craving for grilled chicken, I often eat a minimum of 3 cups of rice. Filipinos love rice and I'm not an exception. Mang Inasal's became a comfort food for me. I can still remember when I was in college, whenever we feel down after a disappointing result from an exam, we would always go to the nearest Mang Inasal branch. Since we're on a budget, we would always order PM1 or PM1. 5. That's the code for whole leg of grilled chicken with unlimited rice. PM1 is regular while PM1. 5 is spicy.

Until now, Mang Inasal is still my comfort food. Their chicken is perfectly grilled. It's tasty, it's savory, and it's perfect with a hot rice in chicken oil. That's right, they have a free chicken oil that goes perfectly well with rice. The combo would really make you eat more than you should.

Overall, I recommend it to everyone. If you happen to visit The Philippines soon, you should try Mang Inasal.
