Your description of the contradictory emotions a mother can have was fantastic. Her feelings of how her life and needs fade away and she gets silently tired without showing it to her kids so she doesn't hurt their feelings.

Just to become happy and forget all her troubles once she sees them happy!

Rick seems to be a dreamy kid who will always be a protector for his brother.
I'm sure their mother will be proud of them as they grow up. And as always, would forget all her troubles.
