Aldersgate Encounter is a Praise and Worship program organized annually by the Youth Ministry of the Amasaman Methodist Church here in Accra, Ghana. The program which is targeted to always be a night full of music, saw its debut takeoff on the 14th of January 2017 (Under the theme: ASSURANCE OF SALVATION) and come 6th January 2018, the organizers promise a superb second edition (With the theme: BREAKING THE FALLOW GROUNDS THROUGH WORSHIP)

One may ask: Why ALDERSGATE ENCOUNTER

Lets take a little peek at the past.

What does Aldersgate mean to us as methodists?
Aldersgate Day is actually a commemorative day that is celebrated by Methodist Christians on the 24th of May or the nearest Sunday every year. It seeks to recall the day in 1738 when an Anglican priest John Wesley showed up for a group meeting in Aldersgate, London, and there, he received an experience of the assurance of his salvation. Source

This really was the pivotal event in Wesley's life that ultimately led to the development of the Methodist movement in Britain and America.

With reference to his journal, Wesley was heavy hearted when he found out that his enthusiastic gospel message had been rejected and looked down upon by his Anglican brothers. He therefore reluctantly showed up for a Christian group meeting that evening in a Chapel in Moravia on Aldersgate Street there in London. It was there, that someone stood to read a text from Martin Luther's Preface to the Romans Epistle, and that was when he felt that his heart was warmed up "strangely".
He described it as:

I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and an assurance was given me that he had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death.

From that day forward, we all know the kind of revolutionized Evangelism John Wesley partook in.

We at the Amasaman Methodist Church believe that If God could cause that great a stir up in a mortal being from the reading of His word, then the same God can, and will do same and even greater for His Children of today as we sing and shout and jump in praise of His Holy name. 2017 was a great experience, and lots of lives were blessed. The Holy Spirit promises to make 2018 awesome, and if you want a real good way to begin the year, the right place to be is at the Methodist Church, Amasaman, as we worship with Ministers:
