Teaching children to take on responsibilities from a young age—especially regarding pet care—is very beneficial. At home, we’ve had dogs, birds, and fish; right now, we only have dogs—two of them, to be exact. We actually had four when my son was born, but two got sick, so now we’re down to two. Even though one of them is quite high-energy, my son loves petting them and even tries to feed them. The dog in the photo actually belongs to my cousin; she left him with us for a while to look after him while she ran errands. Since she lives in an apartment and the dog is restless, she couldn't leave him alone, so she asked us for the favor. My son is used to pets, so he had no trouble helping out with that.
He would pet the dog and keep an eye on what it was doing, fetching it water; sometimes, with the help of others in the house, he even helped clean up its poop—hehe. As I said before, it’s a good idea for them to have responsibilities; plus, it strengthens the bond and companionship with other species. It’s a lovely thing for everyone involved, and it’s sweet for the kids to share those moments with their pets. I remember that particular dog was a handful—he’d constantly look for someone to play with. He really loved children and was happiest when they were nearby. We couldn't leave him completely alone, either; he jumped around so much that I sometimes worried he’d hurt himself badly, so we tried to keep him entertained while we were around to prevent any accidents.
Thank you very much for reading. I hope you enjoy it. I would be happy to answer any comments, and if you would like to know more about me, here are my:
